Position Responsibilities
- Selects requests for quotes that align with the company capabilities and timeframes.
- Work closely with customer personnel to understand product/part specifications.
- Determine equipment lists to include types, and lengths, of conveyors needed and selects new and refurbished conveyor options.
- Apply knowledge of company operations and math skills required for yield calculations to determine material and labor hours necessary to produce the customer’s order.
- Document estimates.
- Correspond directly with customers and follow-up with the customer to maintain currency of status of orders.
- Keep updated status on all bids in development.
- Forecast costs for new projects.
- Gather details and compile data to estimate all sales costs based on specifications.
- Analyze current economic situations to determine how they may affect the company’s ability to sell its products or services.
- Draw conveyor system using AutoCAD and take into consideration package flow and egress issues to ensure there is not interference with consistency and blocks.
- Label all equipment and electrical components.
- Stay abreast of standard charges for installers and electricians.
- Create cover letter, Appendix A and pricing information based on pricing schedules.
- Submit complete responses to requests for quotes in a timely manner after final approval from the President.
- Provide all information to the company after a request for quote has been awarded.
- Manage projects to ensure there is follow-through from start to finish.
- Participate in daily staff meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
- Ability to prepare bids.
- Background and experience in all facets of mechanical and electrical engineering.
- Ability to read, and interpret, blueprints, common technical journals, and financial reports.
- Ability to read, and understand, scope of work, design proposals, specifications, manuals and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.
- Knowledge in shipping and receiving, quality control, training and maintenance manuals, estimating and manufacturing.
- Ability to understand scopes of work.
- Knowledge of practical application of engineering science and technology including application of principles, techniques, procedures and equipment to the design and production of conveyor material handling services.
- Ability to apply principles, techniques, procedures and equipment to the design and production of conveyor handling services.
- Ability to research and analyze design proposals, specifications, manuals and other data to evaluate feasibility, cost and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.
- Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as basic measurement, area, angles and trigonometry.
- Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical diagram form.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Must have excellent communication skills including telephone and writing skills.
- Computer literate.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and AutoCAD as well as general internet software.
- Understand ERP Software.
- Ability to use common office equipment such as a fax machine, copier, multi-line phone system, computer equipment and peripherals.
- Fluency in the English language (read, write and speak) as the overwhelming majority of clients, suppliers and subordinates communicate primarily in that language.
- Willing to travel to jobsites for dismantles, installations and pre-trips.
Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree from a four-year college or university or
- One (1) to two (2) years of related experience and/or training.
- S/he should be willing to attend additional training to upgrade his/her education and/or sharpen any skill deficiencies.
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Project Manager in a related business.
