Shortly before Thanksgiving the people of RiteWay began a competition. They were separated into 8 teams and given the challenge to see which team could bring in the most donations for the McLeod County Emergency Food Shelf by noon on December 21.
Donations of food or cash were accepted with each $1 donated counting as 1 pound of food. The team who worked together to bring in the most donations would be allowed to leave 2 hours early, with pay, on December 30th.
The goal was to raise the equivalent of 1,100 pounds of food. We didn’t reach that goal. We more than doubled it!
Everyone really banded together and donated 1,808 pounds of food as well as $712 in cash – the equivalent of 2,520 pounds of food!
While the winning team was the Ecstatic Elves with the equivalent of 793 pounds of food donated, every person at RiteWay was extremely generous. Every team had donations!
Merry Christmas!
